Which mailer you use ? I also have this "problem"
and solve it by workarounds. For example almost
my users use Outlook configured as user@xxxxxxxxxx
so their outgoung mail looks OK.
Adding "local" users to mailing list added as user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
by majordomo. So I've fixed this by editting corresponding files.
Openwebmail, I've installed, use by default user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx also.
But a week ago we discussed a workaround for this on the list.
It is basic "problem" (feature) of sendmail. This behavior may
be correct. User actually resides on host.domain.com - so its
"real" e-mail address "user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" !
Finally I was tired of all this issue and was managed to configure
MX record for host.domain.com pointing on itself. This should
close all other problems I've not discovered yet.
