Re: [cobalt-users] Can't get administer a Qube after a reinstall

Make sure you rebuild it on a closed, secure network. I had a similar thing
happen with my RaQ4. Turns out I had been hacked within the 10 minutes it
took me to get back to the box after the rebuild.

A little to my surprise that may have been it. I have no direct evidence of actual hacking, but a reinstall with the outside network connection unplugged did work. Thanks! Now I have my fingers crossed that I can get all my patches installed.

And ... download the updates first to another machine. THEN connect the RAQ in locally, not yet on the net. Do all of the updates BEFORE ever putting it on a live connection. The "browse" feature on the software installer screen works great on our RAQ3 to install files from a PC on the lan. We never do installs directly from the download sites. One reason is that we want to be sure the entire package downloads before we start the install process.

We learned this stuff the hard way, reinstalled entire system, then did it again a few days later. We got good at it :)
