Hi All,
Sorry for the long post !
Something I have been playing with to do but I'm not sure about the best
approach. So I turn to you for some valued advice.
Currently we have one mail server which handles all the incoming mail for
both dutch-net.com as well as dutch-net.nl
The websites for both of these domains are on a second machine where .nl is
the main site and .com is a virtual site with the same IP number.
On the mail server we have setup each user as an account for the .nl domain
with an alias for the .com domain.
However we would like to move all users to the RaQ4 and kill the dedicated
mailserver.
Approach?
1) Create the users who are now on the mail server in the .nl domain. That's
easy :-)
2) create an alias file for sendmail where the .com addresses are linked to
the usernames for the .nl domain ?
3) add an entry mail server alias in the GUI for www.dutch-net.nl
4) change the DNS servers to set the priority of the mailserver right
5) after a couple of days remove the DNS entry for the old mailserver and
then shutdown the old mailserver
is this the best approach? Are there anythings I'm overlooking? Any
advice/hints are welcome and highly appreciated.
thanks in advance
