What happened did you inadvertently delete it,
and how did you find it. I figured that since you were messing with 
sendmail.cf that the problem had to be in "sendmail.cf"

I don't think you are supposed to edit it directly, not sure as I am NOT a 
senmail guru, but isn't it generated by M4?
