Like most of you, I get WAY too much SPAM. And one of the big culprits
is
having a catch-all address. But I need to use them; I have addresses for
every company I deal with so I know who sold my name, so far Gateway and
US
Robotics have been the biggest culprits.
Is there a way to keep my catch-all addresses, but put in some addresses
that will get rejected as no such recipient? That will eliminate
probably
more than 1/2 the SPAM I get (about 150/day). My delete key is
warrrrrrnnnnnnn out.
-------------
In the /etc/virtusertable prior to the catch-all definition,
just put the addresses you want caught and give them an action of:
REJECT no such user

Sorry, mind distortion.
Actually, the REJECT action is configured in the
/etc/mail/access table.
However, my virtusertable is configured to have an entry
for every valid local account, including such accounts as
"postmaster","nobody", "sys", "root" and MAILER-DAEMON. For
these types of "accounts, there's an entry for every virtual
domain. Then the catch all for each virtual domain is
configured as:
@thedomain.com error:nouser No such user here
