[cobalt-users] Can I delete these files?

Hi,

In /var/spool/mail - I have thousands of emails stored in root, httpd,
dead.letter, mail, nobody
There are a few in /root/dead.letter

Can I just delete these 6 mailboxes, and will the system re-create them
if it needs? If not is there an easy way to remove the messages from a
mailbox?

Is there anyway to prevent these mailboxes from becoming so full of
junk, as they are taking up valuable space in the /var directory.
