You could re/install php from source, use the pkgmaster config but add 
--enable-trans-sid.

There are many convenient issues with the Cobalt, but there are as many 
(more?) gotchas.

I doubt that you will find relief with the 550.

Which reminds me, I am having a H*** of a time finding new RaQs, we are having 
to buy used and refurbish them for many customers, (providing they will 
accept refurbished)... Of course, we think our refurbished RaQs are better 
than new ones. New Fans, New Hard Drives, New Memories, and all burned-in.

Does sun/Cobalt have a manufacturing problem?
