[cobalt-users] (Raq 4) named writing files as root

I didn't see anything in archives pertaining to this specific problem.

Just noticed that on the production Raq4 we use for primary dns, new domain entries written in the gui still write pri files in etc/named as owned by "root"!

The Raq is fully patched and, when we installed the bind upgrade a while back, the pri files ownership didn't change so, like everyone else, we chowned those to named:named.

The named process itself is clearly owned by named -- shows up in top and the other process monitoring commands (as far as I know them) as owned by named. Only thing that is still owned by root is the restart in /etc/rc.d/init.d/named which is as it should be unless there's something I don't know here.

We restarted named tonight (after doing the latest chown changes) and it started fine. This box runs flawlessly and dns is fast and efficient for all domains so it's not a functional problem. But I'd like to not have to go in and chown new pri's every time we do a dns change through the gui.

Is there something I'm missing here? Is the gui doing something funny? Any suggestions.

Thanks
Alfredo
