I have a client with a raq4r. they use a mix of outlook, outlook express and netscape 4.x to read mail. The problem started months and months ago with first one, then a second box running outlook would crash out when they tried to download mail. the user would begin to download the mail, then one message would seem to hang, and eventually the connection to the server would time out (wasnt that message that seemed to cause it. could delete it using pine and the box would still error out) .We ended up having to reformat the box to get it to download mail again. Restoring the mail config using the old files would cause it to do it again. only with a completely clean system would the problem go away. At this time everyone was happy and we assumed it was a fluke with outlook. on those two machines. Fast forward 4 or 6 months... now more and more sytems are beginning to do the same thing. Now the netscape and OE boxes are doing it as well. The only common denominator seems to be that cobalt server. what is weird, is if the users surf or keep traffic flowing thru the NIC, it doesnt seem to time out, it just takes forever to download the message but it does eventually complete. Anyone else seen this problem????
