Yes and no. There is nothing inherently 'virus-proof' about Linux, or
CobaltOS (Sun/Cobalt's distribution of Linux). It is less vulnerable
because it has the concept of 'separation of privledges' so the average
user can blow away their own files, but not that of other users. There
are less people trying to write viruses for it because it's simply a
less used operating system. Finally, because it's open-source, there's
a greater possibility that someone will spot the flaw before it get
exploited.

I think "pop before relay" has been done to death in the archives.
I don't use it, so I can't help there. The .sig auto-appended by
the list software has a URL to the archives.
