I had this problem with the home site not show ing the gui and could not
fix it by editing httpd and meta verify etc it drove me crazy in the end
I coypied httpd.conf file to httpd.conf.bak
delete the whole virtail host bllock for the main site
when to the admin gui and resaved the setiings for the main site that is
in a differnat palce then all the sites
It remaned the virstual host block and fixed the problem
