Hi,
Firstly sorry, this isn't really Cobalt specific - I thought it'd be an
easy question for anyone providing hosting on the list.
A couple of days ago I noticed that my RaQ4 was being port scanned by an IP
address in the range owned by my hosting company. Further investigation of
the httpd logs showed a pretty comprehensive scan for exploitable files.
I contacted my hosting company and after some investigation they said that
they were performing a security audit on the servers they hold.
My question is, is it normal practice for hosting companies to do this sort
of thing without first consulting the owners of the machines?
Thanks,
TIm King
