Hi Guys,
Just a short note to advise that Dantz Retrospect v6.0 now comes with
support for MacOS X, Solaris and Linux clients.
I have been testing the various beta versions of the Linux client on a
couple of Qube3s for over a year and it works really well. Installation is
manual (i.e. via an rpm) but its straight forward.
The only downside is that these additional clients (i.e. MacOS X, Solaris
and Linux client) are only supported by the Multi Server version, but its
still a cheaper solution than offerings from Veritas and Legato. Its more
expensive that the built-in backup system, but Retrospect works in the real
world.
Check it out for yourself.

I have no association with Dantz apart from being a happy user. The purpose
of this posting is simply to encourage Qube3 owners to try it and hopefully
encourage Sun to put together a .pkg to install the Retrospect Linux client.
Are any Qube3 owners actually using Legato, Veritas, or Arkeia?
Cheers, Malcolm
