Cobalt Users,
Why is my cobalt Raq4r blocking me from connecting with ftp. This
happens all the time and it's always the same cycle. The weird thing is
that it seems to only block MY ip address. If I switch from my static
connection to dial-up, it connects fine. Here's the cycle.
1. Connect with ftp many times throughout the day.(no problems)
2. ftp all the sudden won't let me connect anymore.
3. I reboot the server and I can now connect fine.
This is just a wild guess, but it seems that after connecting too many
times with ftp, the server is blocking my ip address. I do admit that
I'm connecting and disconnecting with ftp A LOT. Is this some type of
security precaution that the cobalt has? Is there a way to avoid having
to reboot?
Thanks,
Jeremy
Are you running anything like ipchains, port sentry or the new system
security hardening? Or any other type firewall?
I have all the patches installed (including the recent security hardening).
This problem WAS occuring before this latest update though. Besides the
patches on sunsolve, the only things I've added are SSH and Openwebmail.
I'm not runny any type of firewall.
