Hi,
After installing the latest security patch to my RaQ4, I encountered the
following error message:
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was
unable to complete your request.
Talking with the Hosting company, they say an "http" file was probably
manually modified via Telnet, and for this reason, the security patch
was wrongly configured knocking everything else out of place.
Their recommendation is that, via my ServerManager Control Panel, I
delete all site settings and then input them again. Prior to this, they
recommend that I back all files on my server up.
Backing up to my local machine in the interim hasn't worked as certain
root files will not back up using ftp. So, the further recommendation
is that I back the files up, after "zipping" them with Telnet.
Now, I can't right now afford to do the sensible thing and hire a
professional to manage my server. So, I have to do the back up myself.
And until two months ago, I had never "telnetted" in my life.
Does anyone have, or know of a link that will talk me through the step
by step instructions to back up files on my server with Telnet? I'll be
really grateful for pointer. The archives only referred to commercial
back up solutions. Until the Server starts paying for itself, I
honestly can't afford such, although that is the inevitable route for
me.
I am hoping to be able to have the domain back up and running before 8
am GMT (London time).
Sincere Regards
Jimi Begbaaji
