Curtis the Cobalt Appliance products (i.e. all of them) require support
on the host PC for particular NICs, the early CDs were very restrictive
but the later generation OSRCD had a wider range - if you boot the CD it
will give you a list of the supported NICs. I think most of the OSRCD
have been updated typically they have 960 in the name I think if they
are the second generation.

I know the following are listed as working in PCI
Intel,Linksys,Netgear,3Com and in PCMCIA for laptops Netgear,3Com,Xircom
you will need to check the CD for the exact model numbers.

The only other way if you do not have one of the above but have a Linux
box is to setup a DHCP server to give out the right info, copy the
contents of the cd to your hard drive and then do an export -a with the
right stuff - this would also be useful to anyone with a MAC or a laptop
that won't boot the OSRCD without having a kernel panic.

I do have more info on this but I need to dig it out and then test it
myself to do a step by step guide. At the end of the day the latter
method is what Cobalt themselves used to use as BTO servers (Build To
Order) we had a basic RaQ2 with 2 nics and then built it to act a dhcp
and then export the info for the RaQ/Qube etc to drag over and run
scripts to build the blue box.

Hope this helps
