Re: [cobalt-users] hard drive upgrade on RaQ 2

Colin,

I am not *absolutely* sure of the RaQ2 and its OS since it is a MIPS platform and I haven't tried upgrading one, but I have sucessfully upgraded a RaQ3 with dual 40Gb IBM drives recently with no issues. I did, however, have to perform some command line magic to get the RaQ3 to recognize the full size of the drive.

Search the archive for my first name and the word "experience" and you'll find my original post.

Good luck!

Subject: [cobalt-users] hard drive upgrade on RaQ 2
Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 22:58:56 -0500 (CDT)

Howdy,

I am considering installing a larger hard drive in a RaQ 2. I will be
reinstalling the OS, so backup will not be an issue. My question is this:
is there a limit to the size of drive that the RaQ 2 Restoration CD can
handle? In other words, will I be limited to a ~30 GB drive, or will a
modern 100 GB drive work just fine? (I'm aware of the upper limits of
older IDE, that's no problem as 80-100 GB is about all the larger I'll be
using for several years).

I did some searching and was not able to find a final answer to this
question.

Thanks in advance!
