And it's a very good reason. I prefer to install from source b/c I
generally prefer to install in a way that differs at least slightly from
most RPMs I come across - different install directories, often different
configuration options. To make life easier for me, I usually keep the
source directories or at least relevant files from them that tell me how I
configured the program, what output it generated and what the install step
did. I do know how to build RPMs and I sometimes do, but you're right that
RPM's package tracking simplifies package deletion (and finding packages and
packages that own files, etc.).

I'd suspect to install a later version. Can't be b/c of space
considerations since it's tiny.
