RE: [cobalt-users] RAQ4R - Apache Patch & Web Server Not Responding

Jonothon,

I pretty green at this stuff, but I interpreted your instruction as follows:
I uploaded RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.1-15417.pkg to /home/packages. Doing the
following gives me a list of 5 rpms:

[root packages]# tar xvfz RaQ4-All-Security-2.0.1-15417.pkg
RPMS/
RPMS/apache-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3.i386.rpm
RPMS/apache-admsrv-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3.i386.rpm
RPMS/apache-devel-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3.i386.rpm
RPMS/apache-mod_perl-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3.i386.rpm
RPMS/apache-openssl-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3.i386.rpm
packing_list
uninstall_me
upgrade_me
versioncheck.pl

Doing a grep on apache gives me the following 7 files already on the
machine.

[root packages]# cd /var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers
[root uninstallers]# rpm -q -a |grep apache
apache-admsrv-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3
apache-openssl-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3
apache-icons-pacifica-1
apache-conf-shinkansen-4
apache-devel-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3
apache-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3
apache-mod_perl-1.3.20-RaQ4_1C3
[root uninstallers]#

It doesn't look like anything is missing.

Roger

Roger, what you may want to do at this point is try to run tar xvf <package
name> and jot down the RPM's that it installs.

>From a previous email:
"What <could be> happening is that there is an RPM file installed on the
machine that is part of the PKG file. You can use tar xvfz <package name> to
view the list of RPMs the PKG has.

Type in rpm -q -a > rpms; this will create a file named "rpms" - you can
grep against this file using the names of the RPM files when using tar xvfz.
Don't forget to remove the ".i386.rpm" extension when running the name of
the file through grep."

Use that information and see if there's anything missing. If there is, you
CAN edit the cobalt_upgrade file and force the install. I've only had to do
this myself three times but it did work each time. Be careful! =)
