Hi all!
I have a stumper, have searched the archives and am not finding an
answer to this one.
I am helping out a friend with a very unpatched RAQ4. I applied 4
patches yesterday, including the OS 2 update. After that reboot, the
web server did not restart properly. I did get the management GUI but
not any of the sites. I tried a manual restart at the command line and
got this message:
Syntax error on line 58 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/libgd.so.1:
undefined symbol: png_set_dither
My thought was a PHP error, the machine was still at 4.03. Somehow the
web sites came back up, I breathed a sigh of relief, went back to the
archives, found nothing nore and gave up for the night.
Checked the box this morning, and sure enough, the admin gui had that
annoying red active monitor light, and the httpd error log had the same
error as above at 4am.
I updated the php with the pkg from Sun and now it says php-4.0.6-C4,
still no go on the websites. So, I commented line 58 in httpd.conf, got
2 other errors each time I tried to restart, commented both those lines
also and low and behold, the restart gave me no errors and I have
websites again.
Unfortunately, ps now shows 19 httpd restart listings. I tried to kill
them and that killed my web sites again. (got a [Fri Jul 5 10:19:36
2002] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down notice in httpd error log)
so I had to send another restart by hand, which gave me back all those
pesky httpd restart listings in ps.
Is this truly a PHP problem? Would an update to the latest from
pkgmaster.com get me through this so I can break it again applying the
next few updates? One other thing that may or may not be related,
Chilisoft on this box is 3.5.2.31. I saw some noise on the Sun forum
that this might also be related.
The good news is none of the virtual sites on this box use php, but they
do use asp. The bad news is I really don't want to sit here all day
with the active monitor up and a terminal window tailing the error log.
<g>.
Any ideas are much appreciated!!!!!
