I still can't get a good description of the problem.
Do you get a login prompt???
There is a script posted to the list, IIRC written by Steve Bassi, that
moves /usr/local to /home/local and it works well. I have used it on Qubes,
RaQ2, RaQ3, RaQ4...
On systems that are to be restored, I use a restore CD haveing a modified
Partition_Table to make a 2Gb '/' partition, 256 MB swap, and 1GB /var
