I did not use RPM. I just download the .tar file.

I had to use commands like ./configure and gmake and gmake install.

All this instruction are from the postgresql web site
http://www.postgresql.org/idocs/index.php?installation.html

Sorry I am very new to linux so I just followed the web manual and it worked
