I've got a Cobalt RAQ4R with all the latest updates but I'm concerned about
the stability of ProFTPd. It seems to fall over with any kind of load. We
have someone who wants to offer a file for download, we have plenty of
bandwidth but I suggested using ftp rather than http as too many connections
on httpd seem to eat up memory (Apache childs using 10Mb plus), using the
Cobalt GUI set ProFTPd to limit simultaneous connections to 10, not too much
pressure even. But it just keeps falling over, in other words refusing new
connections and we have to restart inetd. Has anyone found similar issues or
got any suggestions. I am considering using an alternative ftpd on a
different port for the downloads but that obviously would be more
complicated.
