Dear All
I am still fairly new to the Cobalt but am learning fast. I have checked all
the
archives in this mailing list and been watching the e-mails with interest
but it would be appreciated if someone could advise me of the following as I
am getting rather confused with the amount of data that is available within
this list.
Which logs files and where are they situated within the standard directory
tree should I be monitoring to ensure there are no hack attempts and no
malfunctioning of the server and services especially after updates. I am
aware that some files will have to be moved to another directory and chown
in order for me to download them using standard SSH.
I am aware of the following log directories or files but are there any
others that I should be checking
/home/sites/home/logs
/home/sites/site1/logs (and for all other sites on the server e.g.
site2, site3 etc)
/home/log/httpd/ (check access - adm_access - adm_error - error - )
/var/logs/ (check maillog - cron - auth - lastlog)
Any help and advise would be great (a list of files that I should be
checking would be brilliant) - sorry about asking such a basic question but
I want to get it right from the start.
Kindest regards
Ray Healy
