Today mod-ssl has been changed, which I hope will solve the problem of where
boxes that were
running at 4% load under 1.3.24 now run at 40% load for the same traffic
volumes.
The camel link above is being updated to reflect this change. In the
meantime http://www.modssl.org/source/mod_ssl-2.8.10-1.3.26.tar.gz is the
new file.
I would suggest that anyone that has done the upgrade already needs to apply
this new upgrade and recompile apache.
