what is it you're trying to achieve - the subject suggests you want to
disable DNS so turn it off in the GUI, so what if it then renames
named.conf you don't care do you?

If you want to use DNS then it must be enabled even if as Gerald says
you edit the files by hand just don't save anything via the GUI

Unless I missed something in which case I suspect you haven't worded it
obviously enough, the RaQ has done exactly what you asked it to do.
