Okay,
First, this is pretty common. When I say, pretty common, I mean it happens all the time to our RaQ's, Qubes, etc from time to time. I believe its all down to how the LCD is used in the code by Cobalt. They use lock-files to determine when/who can write to the LCD. Although some actions cause the lock-files NOT to be checked, which is what I suspect has happened here.
Easiest is just to:
killall lcd-showip
then
killall lcdsleep
Give it a minute and see if it recovers. Typically they do, and start displaying IP's and stuff as per usual.
Unless you have a good reason, don't go upgrading packages on the RaQ, it tends to break more than it fixes.
