RE: [cobalt-users] Backup Solution

Simon,

We have multiple servers running at www.888.net but they are all live servers with customer sites on them and we dont have a spare to try it to.

So am I correct in understanding you that you use the manual backup steps you mentioned but have not had the chance to use them tar files as part of a complete restore? I was hoping to find a proven reliable solution that I could use - but I will see if 888.net will loan us a server for testing so we can be sure.

BTW - www.888.net - which is a great place to obtain and host RaQ dedicated servers. And to Dan K. in case you are reading this too, we are not related to that company either - just sharing my preference about that topic too with the list in case anyone is looking around for a place to host and wants a good referral.

Hi there,

I've put that together a while ago drawing on older posts in the thread.
However, I don't know if it works as I have no way of trying it.

You can execute these commands through cron, I think, and auto FTPing should
also be possible. But first the most important thing to do is test the
commands. Do you have a spare RaQ 3 or 4 you could back up to, to do a test?

Regards,

Simon
