Re: [cobalt-users] Mail - Excessive Recursion - MX Problem?

Thanks David,
It's a RAQ3 and yes, it is Raq228. I've been playing around with it for about 3 days and lo and behold it suddenly started working again the moment England beat Argentina. There are strange forces at work. I feel like I tinkered around with many things, so it's not easy to know what I finally did right. For the record though (in case some other poor soul was floundering as I was):

1. I deleted the domain alias "C" record I had
 www.villas-vacations.com --> villas-vacations.com
2. I set up another "A" record, i.e. two in total
 villas-vacations.com -->  213.239.42.61
 www.villas-vacations.com -->  213.239.42.61
3. I set up two MX records:
 villas-vacations.com -- Hi --> villas-vacations.com
 www.villas-vacations.com -- Hi --> villas-vacations.com
With regard to the first MX, I actually thought that this may have been the problem because it just points to itself - however, it seems to work - so who knows...
4. In the RAQ3 web admin I made sure that my catchall alias was:
 @www.villas-vacations.com
5. I double checked my dns settings on www.checkdns.org - which I thought was really cool.

If anyone would like to comment on the above, please do so. The reason I'm trying to write this down is that it took me so long to find any concrete examples of what to do that I believe it could save someone else a lot of time.

First question, is it on a Raq4?
If so, the mx record is set up correctly IF
dns is set up as villas-vacations.com to ip

virtual site is set up as

host:           www
domain: villas-vacations.com
alias:          villas-vacations.com
email alias:    villas-vacations.com

If you have it set up as above, then it would appear that everything is set up correctly I did make one test and it seemed to work ok. Are you raq228.uk2net.com? If not, there could be something set up incorrectly on the server you are on.

Please tell me what's going wrong in the dialog below (from Sendmail). I've got feeling it's a MX prob which is currently:
 villas-vacations.com ---> villas-vacations.com
Should it be:
 www.villas-vacations.com ---> villas-vacations.com
or:
 villas-vacations.com ---> mail.villas-vacations.com

Information follow:...
Domain villas-vacations.com has only one mail-server

Probably mail server does not accept mail for 'villas-vacations.com' (received status 554)
