SunONE, Liberty Alliance, .NET (was Re: [cobalt-users] What's this?)

Sorry, I'm not going to rewrite what's already available online, but in a
tiny nutshell, the Liberty Alliance would provide alternative services to
Microsoft's Hailstorm/Passport.  Liberty would be part of the SunONE
platform, in the Identity and Policy Services "block."

The key difference between .Net and SunONE is that each part of the .Net
solution is an _application_ from Microsoft, whereas in SunONE (which can
be drawn in the same block diagram), each part is a _service_ that could
come from any "open" vendor (one who publishes specifications for all
protocols, APIs, etc).

Please check the Sun website for issues like these -- there are _reams_ of
info there that will give far more detail than I can (or will).  I'm not
always up on the latest info releases, etc., but the website is always
up-to-date.
