No. It's an extremely stable system.
Like previous Apple OS incarnations, it perhaps suffered from the fact
that it only worked on Sun hardware; that might have limited it's
distribution to the point where Plesk couldn't justify supporting it
anymore.
Yes, there used to be a version of Solaris for x86, but it was recently
EOLd. Probably for the same reason Plesk discontinued support for
Solaris.
Solaris is a bit more "modular" than linux, and the BSDs; unless they've
changed, you don't automatically get all the compilers, etc., unless you
buy them. Hopefully Bruce will update this information if it's changed,
or if I've somehow misunderstood.
