I decided to reply to the original post instead of to all the posts
throughout this thread...
Cobalt would rather you not make changes to the /etc/mail/virtusertable
above the "dashed line" at or near the bottom, because those lines are
subject to change by the gui whenever you make changes to users for the
site.
You'd be best served by adding to the BOTTOM of /etc/mail/virtusertable
a line similar to the following:
admin@xxxxxxxxxx <tab> localusername
(don't forget that's a <tab> character between the two fields)
Then, don't forget to do the following after making manual changes:
# makemap hash /etc/mail/virtusertable < /etc/mail/virtusertable
The reason this works is because there's NO "www." prefix to the
domain. So it doesn't matter what's above the dashed-line; the line
you've added will be run first.
We find this works fine, and that server-level warnings still get sent
to the right place; they either send mail to "admin" or to
"admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
In fact, due to an implementation "feature" (read "bug") some email ends
up in the "admin" mailbox even though you've set another mailbox to
receive admin email.
But mail from outside, sent to "admin@xxxxxxxxxx" will end up being
redirected where you want them.
(Just tested all this a few minutes ago to make sure it was still true
after all the recent updates.)
