RE: [cobalt-users] Are XTR's still unstable?

When you restore XTR's, we have thirty-three of them, you will have to
use the OS restore disc at first. That will create a 1Gb partition for
the OS and use a Raid 1 for that partition. Meaning it will be mirrored
on all three hard disks. After the OS restore disc finishes, you have to
run the GUI, there you can define if you want to have raid 0,1 or 5 on
the remaining disk space.

As the restore disc you have to use the 3500R_1.133 version, that is the
actual release.

Our's are working stable even under a high load. The only problem we
have is that our customers complain about the dated OS. It is a Red Hat
6.0 version.

The XTR is a system V architecture, therefore NOT to be compared with
the RAQ 4 or the new 550, which have another architecture. This means
also that restore discs only work for one specific RAQ.

I have spend a lot of time in making my own restore disc, so I have a
pretty good insight on how this works. As a result of that, we do no
longer use the Restore CD, we boot and reinstall our RAQ XTR from a
normal PC. This gives use the possibility to change system parameters
during initial install, like the OS Partition and Kernels wich will be
installed and so on.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Are XTR's still unstable?

I am trying to restore 2 XTR's I bought used. I am trying a RAID 5
config
using three drives. It will not restore properly in that config. RAID
1
seems OK.

I downloaded two restore disks. The larger ISO mentions "R 3000" in the
LCD
when doing the restore.

I was reading about a recall in the archives of the news groups.

Any insight would be greatly appriciated.
