[cobalt-users] Raq VS. Xserve

Ok.

After reading all the banter about this topic and the subsequent Cobalt
bashing I have to say this...

I have had Raqs since they came out and with the exception of the XTR
introduction debacle, I have had excellent use of them and they have saved
my company lots of money and trouble. If you use it for what it was
designed for and don't experiment, it is a great machine.

That said...

IMHO, Sun (A multi BILLION dollar company) could easily write a fantastic
new GUI for the Cobalts that would out the Xserve to shame, they could
incorporate a real remote access GUI solution when you need access to the
server but the web interface is down. They COULD do all these things and a
myriad more. But like most big companies, they fail to properly invest in a
good thing and keep developing new more expensive items rather than taking a
good thing and expanding upon that!

SUN.... Wake up... We don't want a new machine. We want you to develop your
software on which we have all spent tens of thousands of dollars and we want
new GUI tools to help us do our work better. So take 100 programmers and
get them into a closet and let them write the best GUI their is.

Rant done... :)
