Well, it does. I had not seen the 550 prices when I came across the xServe.
Problem is, I just need something that works out of the box, with a
processor faster than a Raq3/4. The 550 was mooted as a new 'low-cost'
solution, to me low-cost means around a grand (ukp) or 1500 dollars.
The apple is very high spec, and I am tempted seriously, as we currently run
darwin quicktime streaming server on a generic linux box, cos the raqs can't
cope, but that is another 1u space we have to buy. The xServe (I still
prefer Apple Raq) is built for that job.
