Yes...
Actually we have a Snap server that we have setup as a Hard Mount to one of
our Raq3i's and use it for our daily backup. It works great.. It took some
time for us to figure out how to make the mount work properly and configure
the backup to point to the correct location but with a small amount of
effort it works great.
We have to additional Raq4r's that we plan on using the same backup
arrangement with on the same Snap server only creating different directory's
to be mounted for each unit.
FYI - We are fortunate to have a NT server physically located at the
co-location site and we have it setup to run a script every morning after
the Cobalt's backup that moves the backup files to a directory out side of
the mounted directory. I'm sure the same could be accomplished with a
script under Linux but for us it was quicker and easier to use the NT box
for this task.
If you don't move the backup files your backups will be backed up and so on
an as such the size of the backups grows out of control quite quickly.
FYI # 2 - Snap server related.. if you need more space hard dive wise and
aren't to nervous about voiding your warrantee.. we've found that it's no
big deal to remove and replace the drives in the Snap servers with larger
ones. So far we have done this with at least to or 3 different snap servers
that we own and haven't had any problems at all. All of the units we've
upgraded have bee the dual drive models and one was even an original
Meridian Data branded unit from before Quantum bought them up.
Hope that helps...
If you need more specific's about the mounting of the Snap server feel free
to contact me off list.

Anyone ever used a Snap Server as storage space for a RaQ? I have a client
who wants to FTP a ton and I don't want it clogging up the drives in the
RaQ.
Any other direction would be appriciated.
Raining hard in Hawaii,
Matt
