I agree on this, as I've done packaging of my own for our own internal
software deployments, etc and when creating the package you create a
file that gives the cobalt instruction on what to do:
Options: reboot,uninstallable
So that without any choice the machine can go through a reboot, whether
required by lib dependencies or not really.
If you think about installing RPM's, how many actually need a reboot of
the system???
Although I see the point of having to be carefull if a script was to be
used to stop/start services then it would need to be relatively complex
to stop, wait for services to cleanly stop, start, check they come back,
etc.
Just my views really, I'm from the trad. Environment of a non-rebooting
linux system, other than for kernel updates. (Don't you hate it when
you're out of the office for a few days and one of the M$ engineers
reboots a possible faulty raq just to see if it fixes the problem!)

Andy
