I will assume that you went to the Maintnance/Install Software Panel,
selected Upload, browsed for and selected the file to install and then
clicked 'Install a ".pkg" Package' button and clicked ok or yes to the
warning prompt?

If you did all that, perhaps the install failed, while installing, keep an
eye down at the bottom of the panel, if it failed, it will give a brief
message there, it could be a dependence problem or a bad package or
something else. Some messages are so quick, they are hard to read so be on
the lookout for them.
