sounds like its not getting the correct info from ifconfig

what does ifconfig say?
run these commands and see if they work
ifconfig eth0 | grep inet | cut -d : -f 2 | cut -d \  -f 1
ifconfig eth0 | grep Mas | cut -d : -f 4
