I was attempting to get raid running or at the lease add storage to my RaQ and entries to
raidtab and fstab killed the server. no telnet ftp etc... console works to a point then
stops
upon boot up via console the tech guy at my colo states," it asks to input root pass and
then says:"
(after i fsck trouble partion)
(Repair filesystem) 2fsck /dev/hdb1
Parallelizing fsck version 1.18 (11-Nov-1999)
e2fsck 1.18, 11-Nov-1999 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
Couldn't find ext2 superblock, trying backup blocks...
fsck.ext2: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/hdb1
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193
no boot prompt...
then tried
boot
set_params single
bfd
and got the same message with no boot prompt. Is there a command to bypass this and get to
a prompt to edit the files i mentioned.
System
RaQ3 w/RaQ4 OS
2 20 GIG drives
/dev/hda is the only drive that was working the one listed in the error message was the
one I was trying to get online.
Thanks
Gil
