[cobalt-users] [RaQ4r] MX List - Local configuration error - loops back to me

This posting never made it to me since yesterday, so I am posting it
again....sorry for any duplicate posts....

I just wanted to post this solutions since it is the second time I have
encountered the problem. The first time I added a new virtual site and was
receiving the following error:

MX list for virutal.site.fqdn. points back to home.site.fqdn 554 5.3.5
<user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error

After posting to this list to no response and looking in the archives, never
figured it out, reversed everything for that customer and tried again the
next weekend, everything worked the second time around. Then today...

This morning I deleted a virtual site from the same RaQ4r and remove its DNS
from another RaQ4. Never mind that I lost all the site_manage area of the
admserv and put that back, but ALL virtual sites started bouncing mail with
the same error as above and this one:

553 5.3.5 virual.site.fqdn. config error: mail loops back to me (MX
problem?) 554 5.3.5 <user@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error

Some messages just said 'Local configuration error'. After hours of poking
around and searching (once again) the archives for a solution) I was down to
diff'ing some files to see what happened. The /etc/mail/virtusertable was
missing all of the section following '# accept-email-at-domain routes'.
Also, the /etc/mail/local-host-names file was missing all of the domain.tld
entries. For instance, if I had a virtual site such as www.mysite.com, the
local-host-names file had only www.mysite.com and NOT mysite.com. After
diff'ing with the backup files from last night in the /etc/mail directory,
this was evident.

So, I put back the two files and all is well again....I hope this will save
someone lots of time like me.
