As someone who has stood on Stands for both Cobalt and then SunCobalt it
does depend on the person(s) sometimes it is better just to tell the
customer the truth, you will only look stupid if you have a customer in
front of you with problems and you just spout the usual we are great
marketing message ignoring the obvious it doesn't do much for your
credibility. Some companies do however just hire/send specific stand people
who can do that as they never see the customers at any other time, Cobalt
never did this we put real Sales people on the stand and then sent real
techies to back them up/ sort problems out if possible.
I have worked on trade stands all over Europe for Cobalt and at times
installed packages for customers and in one case detected that a customer
had been hacked and then sorted out getting it fixed for him - needless to
say I still have those customers now even after I have left :-)
