(As Jeff suggested, you'll probably have better luck in a
different forum.)

Also, with all due respect: Is it Sendmail that's about to break
things, or just the way that Sendmail acts when dealing with a
broken protocol?

Give it up eddy, we all should know that send mail was never made with the internet in mind.... it was made to send messages back and forth, just like the windows messenger... then they tryed to adapt it for the internet and have not been able to fully get it to work with all the features needed.

This should not be happening in the body of the message.
Are you sending a proper header first, skipping a line, then
sending the data? Or does Sendmail think that it's operating
on a header?

Again, are you sure that you have a proper header first? I
imagine it'd be easier to make this change than to modify
Sendmail.

The rewrite rules don't operate on message body.

Any additional information that you can provide without breaching
your secrecy requirements? Maybe the beginning of an example
message, with sensitive data removed?
