This should not be happening in the body of the message.
Are you sending a proper header first, skipping a line, then
sending the data? Or does Sendmail think that it's operating
on a header?

Again, are you sure that you have a proper header first? I
imagine it'd be easier to make this change than to modify
Sendmail.

The rewrite rules don't operate on message body.
