There is NO software warranty on the RaQ. There's a hardware warranty.

It should. Questions about new kernels should be addressed to the
cobalt-developers list. There are two reasons I wouldn't install a new
kernel...
1. Since the RaQs don't use Grub or Lilo as their boot loaders, I don't
know how I'd get back to the old kernel if I made a mistake or the new
one didn't work.
2. Once I installed a new kernel, I'd be on my own as far as RaQ updates
to the kernel are concerned; I could never comfortably use the RaQs
update package files again.
