RE: [cobalt-users] "Moving" a users email ?

Thank you EVERYONE for some GREAT advice on this. I have learned a LOT and
that is always good.

I got a suggestion from the non-Cobalt Qube-Users list to try changing from
the incoming mail server from the named form to the IP address and it worked
!

So now on to investigating a DNS problem (that only effects on user) I
guess...

Thanks again everyone !

Chuck

See below, this reply didn't get quoted right for some unknown reason-sorry
-------
1° install fetchmail (http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/fetchmail/index.html)

2° modify the user account to forward imcoming mail to her aol account

3° write a .fetchmailrc :

poll localhost with proto POP3
user her-username there with password her-password there is
username@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx here options fetchall

4° run fetchmail

All the mail queued will be fetched and re-sent to the user...

I wouldn't do it that way. If this is a one-time thingy and not recurring
(in which case yes, automate of course) then:

1. Log into her account via the shell
2. Fire up Pine (don't know what version you have on the Qube)
3. Do a "select" and choose "all"
4. Do a "bounce"
5. Fill in her new email addy when prompted
6. Send.
-------
Therafter, stick an entry in her .forward (or use the GUI to send all mail
onwards)

This *will* work, I've done it for users when necessary.
