Hi,
I had some problems with my disk yesterday (I wrote about that in another
message), which made me wonder if it would be a good idea to install some
raid-feature. My system is a 4i, which does not support it.
I read in the archives about creating a raid on a 4i by putting in the
second (identical) disk, and re-installing the whole system with a 4r
OS-disk. Now, I could do that, but that would also mean I would have to
setup the system allover again, including all clients sites, and all of my
own sauce (some of which would maybe break).
Questions:
- could I startup a raid on my 4i by putting in a second disk withoud
loosing everything on the first?
I peeked around and found mkraid and startraid and /proc/mdstat. this would
ofcause be without GUI-support.
- Would starting a raid on linux level break the 4i GUI?
Thanks!
Jelmer
