Re: [cobalt-users] Strange problems with statistics on Raq4

What I've done to get Webalizer to work is to not use it using the default package but to have made it so that it processes web.sessionlog instead and then to move it to a cron group that runs at 5:30am instead of 4am like the other daily cron jobs.

The main reason for doing this is that web.log gets rotated out of existance every so often when it gets above the threshold size and if it gets pushed out of the way before Webalizer gets to it, you get an almost empty day (you get the stuff that happened before 4am.)

web.sessionlog contains only the previous days stats so it runs a lot faster too. If you find that it's not there then you might need to edit split_logs and eliminate the "unlink" command that's there (I notice the default version of split logs does that but it disappeared with some update and then reappeared when I did the recent updates.)

The reason for making a separate 5:30 am group is the log rotating has to be complete before webalizer starts so that gives it enough time.

the time, but sometimes single days don't show any traffic and some virtual
sites have entire months or parts of months missing. One virtual site's
stats simply disappeared for all months prior to the current one. I am
looking at totally unsystematic failures of statistics everywhere on the
machine.
