After several months of webalizer not working i removed it and started a
fresh.
I had some errors so I did: rm -rf /home/sites/*/web/stats/webalizer.current
It fixed the errors. Although I had stats from 2003 and 2004 and there were
no March 2002 stats.
I wanted to just clear it and start from scratch. So I deleted /stats from
every directory and ran logroate.
I then realised it was the web.log that was the problem, but it would also
be /var/log/httpd/access.
So I cleared /var/log/httpd/access and each sites web.log file to start from
scratch.
I was confident this would work. I made sure the file permissions were fine
on the access log file and restarted httpd.
Now. I read the archives to diagnose most of these problems. I don't know
linux very well at all. So the
archives came in very handy. Now. I did: tail -f /var/log/httpd/access and
made sure the log was
being written to and i waited an hour for the logs to fill up a little. Then
i ran /etc/cron.daily/logrotate
and nothing happened. So I simply cleared the entire /logs directory in the
hope it would work :)
i ran logrotate again and nothing happened. I made sure the file permissions
were in tact. They are.
So. I can only assume logrotate doesnt think the access log is big enough to
rotate. That is my only guess.
Any ideas?
Summary: Logrotate wont create web.log files in /home/sites/siteN/logs/ -
need to rectify so i can restart webalizer.
Thanks in advance. I've read through the archives alot. There is a fair bit
on logrotate and webalizer, i sifted through
a fair bit of it to no avail. My appologies if i've missed something,
however i really think I made an effort to sort it out
myself.
Kind Regards,
Kai.
