1) login as admin 2) su - (enter admin password) Your now ROOT
Aaarguh... Really shouldn't be using same password for root/admin if you are, log in as admin (via ssh, not telnet) then do the su - root thing and since I'm not sure you can change root password till you're root, go ahead and use admin password to get to root then type passwd and it will prompt you for your old password, give it, and then give it the new password..
You've now just added a layer of security to the machine. Watch out though, if you change admin password from the GUI, that will overwrite the root password again. It's better to change the admin password from shell..
