Dear Cobalt-user-in-God, brother Jeff, :-)
I don't think he was asking how to recreate the
httpd.conf file, nor does that file control directory
indexing which is what he's having problems with.
I think he managed to recreate everything (or so he
thought) to get his HTTP back up and running, but was
just having problems getting Apache to display
directory index's correctly. For that, he needs to
look to srm.conf. If I'm wrong, opps, cancel that..

The directive that controls "DirectoryIndex"(ing) is
in the srm.conf file. That's why my guidance was on
trying to help him verify the correct directive (and
extensions) are in his srm.conf file.
Hope I didn't pollute them-there archives too much.
Can I get an Amen! ;-)
Virtually,
Babs
